SeCommerce Licensing Overview
SeCommerce is free to use for local website development, as long as the
local website does not face the internet or is used for commercial or
business purposes other than website development.
When you want to go live with a website, then you must purchase a
license. The license limits your usage of SeCommerce to the domain the
license is for. This also includes your secure checkout domain and any
sub-domains that are part of the same business and overall presentation.
Should you need a limited-time live license for the purpose of
demonstrating a live site prior to signing off for a client, that can be
arranged.
For small websites we offer heavily discounted licenses with an
understanding that should the website become monetarily successful in the
future that you will pay the full license price. This is done primarily on a
trust relationship.
We want to develop a working relationship with developers who are keen to
use SeCommerce. As such we will consider giving licenses for a nominal fee
to such developers for their own pet projects as a way of helping the
developer or development firm to learn more about the unique capabilities of
SeCommerce.
Contact us if you have a
special pricing situation.
When a developer purchases a license for a clients website, the
developer will typically resell the license to the client with their markup. It
should be noted that the license is legally owned by who-ever owns the domain
the license is for (typically the client)., where they collect by the month for this service, then we bill the
developer a monthly leasing fee. In this instance the license is owned by
SeCommerce. We typically will issue you a license that is valid for a year,
and the 3 months prior to its expiration will send you a replacement license
(assuming the license is still being leased)
